The changed that Google has introduced to its Search platform include better organised Google News results, content indexed podcasts and a camera in results that provides AR-based answers. A number of announcements around Google Lens were also made. The service will now help you pay bills, translate texts in a more enhanced way and do so much more. Google CEO Sundar Pichai has also revealed that the Full Coverage for Google News will come to its Search platform later this year. The feature will help Google organise search results better. To recall, full coverage does not only come with new results, but it also includes tweets, videos and other such elements. Pichai also spoke about podcasts, saying that the company will soon start helping users search for the podcast or the episode that they are looking for. In fact, they will be directly available to find within Search itself and users will be able to listen to podcasts there itself. They will also have to option of saving them to listen later. Google’s VP and General Manager for AR Products Aparna Chennapragada shed light on how the company is integrating augmented reality (AR) in search results. It is worth mentioning that the technology will make its way to Google Search later this month. Google has partnered with various companies like NASA, New Balance, Samsung, Target, Visible Body, Volvo, and Wayfair to show 3D objects on Search. This will enable people to view and interact with these objects in 3D and AR. The users will be able to find this option within the Knowledge Panel of the service.
She also spoke about Google Lens, which according to the company has been used more than a billion times. Going forward, Google Lens will be able to tell users about the popular dishes that are served in restaurants. Users will also be able to see what the dish looks like before they place their order, by just tapping on its name in the menu. They would also have the option of reading reviews, splitting up the bill and calculate tips. Last but not least, Google Go will be getting camera capabilities, which will enable the user to get options like translate, listen, and search.
