As we all know Xiaomi is one of the smartphone makers which mostly opts for its own skin – MIUI – to be used on top of Android. Xiaomi has promised that it will come up with a system-wide dark theme, new icons, animations and many other features like battery optimizations for its handsets. Xiaomi has started speaking about the availability of Android Q on smartphones such as the Mi MIX 3, Mi 9, Redmi K20 series, among others. Earlier in May, Xiaomi made the declaration in China through the MIUI Forums, specifying the schedule for the availability of the stable version of Android Q. According to the post, these smartphones from Xiaomi and Redmi are eligible for the update: In Q4 2019: Xiaomi Mi 9, Redmi K20 Pro, Xiaomi Mi8, Xiaomi Mi8 screen fingerprint edition, Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, Redmi K20, Xiaomi Mi 9 SE In Q1 2020: Redmi Note 7 But now, the company has updates updated this list and added Redmi Note 7 Pro to it. Along with Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro, it will also receive Android Q update in the first quarter of 2020. Both Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro will be receiving the update in Q1 2020. However, considering that these devices were launched this year and were marketed a lot by Xiaomi, it is kind of disappointing to see that they will be getting the update so late. The Chinese smartphone brand left no stone unturned in making sure that the devices create headlines, and this is especially true for Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Most of the smartphones that fall under the Android One program and handsets from rival brands will be getting the Android Q update this year. Xiaomi has packed the Redmi Note 7 Pro with a number of powerful specifications like a 48MP primary camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. However, till the time the company starts sending out timely updates and cleaning up its UI, Xiaomi will not gain the kind of acceptance that it wants outside the budget segment.
